1970s, German, Peill & Putzler, conical, opaque glass, ceiling hanging light. The shade is made from thick glass with an opaque, circular, whirlpool effect pattern around the outside with some small feature bubbles throughout. The height is adjustable to a maximum drop of 160cm by loosening a red screw hidden inside the ceiling cup which releases the white string that needs to be re-tightened once your desired drop is reached. A string holds the light in place and the white flex corkscrews around it. The light is specifically designed to hang above a dining table at the exact height you require to create an ambience for those intimate dinner parties or intense card games. The original Putzler manufacturers label is visible on the outside of the glass shade. There are no chips or cracks to the glass. The corkscrew wire does show some age-related discolouration.
