19th century Austrian bronze inkwell in the form of a German Mastiff.

11cm high, finely cast bronze German Mastiff, doubling as an inkwell. The head tilts back to reveal the original brass ink pot, fitting perfectly into place.

The underside of the tail is incised with the roman numerals XXII.
