A late 19th-century French Napoleon III hanging lantern, dating to circa 1880–1900. The lantern features an elaborate wrought-iron framework with scrolling foliate decoration, surmounted by a distinctive pyramidal canopy and suspended from its original decorative chain. The body is fitted with panels of textured amber-coloured glass, accented with vivid green and red stained-glass details and divided by a geometric leaded framework. The warm, richly coloured glass creates an atmospheric glow when illuminated. One panel is on hinges with a locking mechanism for easy access to the light bulb.
